Czech Me Out!!!

It’s our fourth night in Prague and it’s been amazing so far. The weather is so nice and cold, it doesn’t even get this cold in the winter back home. This morning it was 13 degrees and 20 in the afternoon, rain everyday. I took lots of pics (I borrowed my sister’s camera, mine was going to take 3 weeks to get fixed) and a lot of videos that I might post on YouTube if I get a chance. I love buying souvenirs from cities I go to. I have a few shelves in my room that are filled with them. My favorite things to get are snow globes. I have lots of them and I got one today!!! I also got a picture that I’m gonna frame in my room and I <3 Prague t-shirt. I got a “Czech Me Out ” t-shirt but then I thought that it was kind of inappropriate so I got the other shirt instead. I saw a “Czech me out” mug that i’ll definitely get, and my sister got a hoodie with the same slogan. I’m thinking of buying my sisters “my sister went to prague and all I got is this stupid t-shirt” t-shirt, or I’ll just buy it for myself.

We’re going to Karlovy Vary tomorrow, it’s a spa town. We might also go to Vienna for a couple of days too. If we do, I’ll make sure to visit all the castles there.

It’s 11:48 pm here and I’m tired from walking today, I’ll post pics and things that I saw tomorrow.

Note: I’m currently watching this new show “Community”, it’s hilarious. Be sure to czech it out.

The Last Song+Last Minute Trip+Broken Camera

I finished reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks yesterday. I loved it and I give it 5 stars. It was so good, and of course I kept crying every other chapter. It’s a romance novel but it’s more about the relationship between the main character Ronnie and her estranged father. The book was so good and moving, I loved how in the beginning of the book she hated him and actually told him that she hated him and was so mean to him, and by the end of the book she was the only one who was there for him.

The only other Nicholas Sparks book that I read was A Walk To Remember, i read it years ago. I don’t remember it well but I think I love The Last Song more. I love tearjerker books and movies, so if you know any good ones please mention them in the comments:) I saw the movie after I finished the book, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t as good as the book. Books are usually longer and there’s limited time for movies that’s why the books are usually better than the movies.

I’m going to start reading The Lucky One also by nicholas Sparks.

I think we’re going to Prague in two days and my camera is not working. :( The trip is totally last minute and my camera keeps giving me an annoying error ” err 99 shooting is not possible turn the power switch to off and on again…”. The service center says it’s going to take at least a week to fix it, and we’re leaving in 2 days.

For my obsession with sewing classes, dad said that I could go. It’s starts in September so I’m pretty excited about it. Also, , the club is offering cooking classes in Ramadan, so I’m gonna sign up cause I’ve always looked for good cooking classes.

By the way, The Last Song was my 12th book this year and I’m still hoping to complete at least 50!!

Stuck and depressed

I got back from KSA on Saturday, we went there for a week for Omrah. It was fine. But now that we’re back I’m bored and really depressed. I just sit around watching youtube videos. Since we’re not traveling this summer, I thought about taking really cool classes at Craft Land but my dad said no, he said that if I wanted to take any classes, I should go somewhere in Sharjah. He didn’t even let me finish the ones I already started. There’s aren’t any classes in Sharjah. And since he gave no reason for saying no, I’m currently doing the opposite of everything he tells me to do. I’m also thinking about coloring my hair blond or red. This is the only thing that would ease my boredom in Sharjah.

In the past, whenever I got bored, in my mind I knew that I’ll be going back to school, or college or something. Believe it or not, I actually love studying. But now I feel that I’m stuck and that I’m standing still while the rest of the world is moving. I got accepted to grad school, it starts in November, but dad is saying no to that too!! It’s only once a week from 6-9 pm cause people have jobs, kids, and lives. And my father is objecting on the timing!!! Whatever, I don’t care anymore, I gave up on that. I’m looking for an online school to get my graduate degree, or a baccalaureate degree in something else. There’s Hamdan uni, it’s new though.

I am also looking for a job, but I won’t hold my breath. My parents will only let me work at a women-only place and there are only a few of those and it’s really hard to get. I wish I could find a job where I can work online, I don’t care that much about the pay, I just need something to do.

Hot Weather!!

I finished my interior design class last week and my pattern making class today :( for interior desig class we had to do a presntation :( I’ll post my board later and after finishing my last pattern making class today, I can finally sew a simple skirt, shirt, pair of pants :D I can’t wait for sewing class, it starts in September.

I started knitting and crocheting classes last week, they’re 4 classes each and I may start taking quilting next week, it’s also 4 classes. But I think I’ll stop taking classes after that until September, it’s so hot outside. Today the temprature was 48 degrees!!! I so wanna travel somewhere cold this summer, like Canada. That’ll never happen so I’ll settle with Austria, I love it there and it’s not so hot in the summer but I think we’re gonna go to southeast Asia, I wanna go there but it’s hott there too.

I stopped reading for a while after watching House Seasons 1-6 in 2 weeks but I’m currently in the middle of both Blue Moon and the first book of Pretty Little Liars. I saw the first episode of the series and it was great.

I’m thinking about watching Anne of Green Gables first and second movie tonight while drinking karak (indian tea with milk). It’s a ritual of mine, I always drink karak when I watch Anne of Green Gables. I haven’t done that in a while though, but the idea came to me when we were doing puffed sleeves in pattern making class :D I’m also gonna order the third movie cause I don’t have it. I also wanna read the books.

I’m in a hurry so I’ll post pics later, ciao !

Busy Watching DVDs!!

I got House Season 1-5 boxset from amazon and first season of Fringe and The Metnalist. I finished watching all of them and they are now some of my fav shows ever. I also saw the second seasons of Fringe and The Mentalist and I’m watcing the sixth season of House right now that’s why I put reading on hold for a little while but I’ll continue reading once I finish wathcing House and Lost. I can’t believe that Lost’s series finale is this week!!!

Finally something to do

I started taking 2 classes a couple of weeks ago. On Saturdays, an interior design class at the Dubai Community Theatre and Art Center and the other one is a dress pattern making class at the Dubai International Art Center in Jumeirah. It’s every Monday. They’re both great.DIAC is next to town center and I found a really cool shop called Craft Land, they sell fabrics, sewing machines, crochet and knitting supplies and stuff like that. It’s so cool, I’ve always wanted a shop like that here. My favorite thing about it is that they offer many classes that I love and have always wanted to take. I signed up for four classes, first one is machine sewing for beginners, they put me on the waiting list for that one cause it starts this Thursday and I registered late so they’re gonna call me tomorrow to let me know if anyone cancelled. The second one is just one class to make a quilted square it’s on May 18th, and the other 2 are beginner’s knitting and crochet but they start in June cause the ones that start in May is in the eveining and I wanted morning/ early afternoon classes. I also bought a sewing machine yesterday after class but I don’t know how to use it yet.

As for reading, I’m currently reading two books, Shadowland and Pretty Little Liars.

Book Review: Great and Terrible Beauty

This book was written by Libba Bray. It’s set in the 1800s. It’s about a 16-year-old girl who discovers that she has powers. The book starts in India where Gemma (the main character) was living with her family. She was walking with her mother and housekeeper in an indian market and was begging her mother to send her to a boarding school in London where all the girls go to learn manners and skills that will make them proper ladies until they go off to get married. Her mother was so against the idea. While they were walking, she split up with her mother and housekeeper and got lost, then she saw a vision of her mother killing herself after entering a shop and after that she saw her mother dead in reality. She never told anybody about what she saw. Her father sent her to the boarding school in London. Where she continued to see visions that lead her to a diary of a girl that had the same powers as hers and was a student at the same school a long time ago. She and 3 of the girls she befriended at the school would sneak out everynight to the caves in the forest near the school to read parts of the diary where they uncovered many secrets and learned about the “realms” she had the power to go the realms and she would take her friends with her. She saw her mother there who told her that the magic shouldn’t be taken out to the real world. So the girls kept looking for answers at the school and from the gypsy camp that was in the woods until they found the shocking truth.

I normally don’t read books that were set in another century but I really liked this one and I give it 4 stars. It has 2 sequels: Rebel Angels and The Sweet Far Thing.

Art Classes+ jobless?

So, I’ve been looking for some art classes to take cause I’m bored to death, I found a place in Sharjah called “*******” I think it should remain nameless cause this is hardly and advertisement for it. They have lots of classes including different types of cooking and baking which I wanted, so I went over there with my brother to check out the place. We went to the building and as soon as we got off the elevator I got scared and told him that we should leave cause the place  is super creepy and he said that since I dragged  him all the way over there we should at least go check it out. We went to the apartment, the door was closed and it said “women only” on the door but there was no way I would’ve gone in there by myself so he came with me and the place was super small and the only one there was the receptionist who told me about their classes and made me write my name and phone no., I did that only to be nice cause there was no way that I would’ve taken the classes there. I wouldn’t let myself let alone my parents. I don’t know what I was thinking cause on they’re website they were heavily advertising something they offered called ” Modeling package + makeup and professional portfolio” . Just so you know, I didn’t take any classes with them so I’m not judging their ability to teach, maybe their classes are great and you know that you can’t judge a book by its cover, but my point is that my parents would never let me go to a place like that, they even don’t like me going to the ladies club!!!

Anyway, I found two other place in Dubai that offer some classes that I want but none of them offer cooking classes which is a shame. One of them is Dubai International Art Centre, it’s in Jumeira near Mercato mall, it has sewing and quilting classes (which are the ones I want) and many other great classes. The other one is called Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre which is located inside Mall of the Emirates. They offer great classes too. I want to take potter and they also have interior design classes which my mother is making me take, its instructor worked on many projects including Dubai Mall. At first, my mother was trying to change my mind about grad school cause she wants me to get a degree in Interior Design but since taking that class will get her off my back and make me occuppied instead of sleeping all day, I am going to take it inshalla.

So I went to the art centre in Jumeira today to register for the sewing class. I have to take one called “Dress Making Pattern” which is like an intro to sewing where we can draw designs and take measurements. When I was filling the membership form, I stopped on “Occupation”, what do I write? “Unemployed” makes me sound like a loser, maybe I am one but why advertise it? and I’m not a student anymore and if I wrote students they’re going to make to register for the student membership and show them my college ID, which I don’t have cause UOS take your ID when you graduate. Anyway, I left the field empty. I really need a job!! I know sleeping all day ,staying up all night watching movies, going out only to shop when you really don’t need anything,  and having your parents pay for everything sounds good but think about how that is on the self esteem. Having a job maybe means something different to each person but the one thing that is common for all people is that it means you are someone who is active in the community and that you can take care of yourself. Therfore, I’m on a job hunt.

Earth Hour

Today March 27th is the day where millions of people all over the world turn off their lights for one hour from 8:30 til 9:30 pm to save energy. I was going to turn off the lights in my room only but I”ll try to convince my mother to turn off the lights in the whole house.

What I’m reading now: The Van Alen Legacy,  it’s the fourth book of Blue Bloods, there are two more books but they’re not out yet.

What I did this past week: Went to Kidzania with my nephewsm took my camcorder with me and now I’m editing the videos using iMovie, it’s awesome, best video editing software I’ve ever used. While we were at Dubai Mall, I bought the sequel to Great and Terrible Beauty. Rebel Angels and another book written by a bunch of writers including Libba Bray called Vacations from Hell. I also went to Ski Dubai with my nephews, it was my first time, it was freezing but I liked it. I’m thinking about taking aerobics and yoga classes at the club starting tomorrow.

SICK

I have a sore throat- worst thing in the world.
Here’s what I did this past week:
Went to Uptown Mirdif on Friday with my sisters.
Crocheted a flower and went to a shop to buy some beads where I bought a bedazzler!!! I’ve always wanted one, I bedazzled my sister’s calculator, I’ll post the picture.
I went to Mirdif City Centre yesterday, It was great, a lot of new shops like pottery barn and crate and barrel and the best part is that they’re going to open Pinkberry!!! finally, now I don’t have to go all the way to Mall of the Emirates to have the delicious pomegranate yogurt with fresh strawberries on top. They also have Sugar Daddy, I bought some delicious overpriced cupcakes.
This week I also saw Dear John, Valentine’s Day and the Blind Side, liked all of them.
